The Bengals Draft

Here is my take on the 2010 NFL Draft for the Bengals as seen in the News Record.

UC Spring Game - Offense Takes Down Defense -

The offense looked great at the fourth Bearcat Bowl. The spring game kicks off the drive towards the 2010 season which starts in September.

No More Eye Black Messages

The NCAA, in what is being called the Tim Tebow Rule, has made writing messages on eye black forbidden.

I say the NCAA finally made a good decision. There is no need for me to watch an OSU game and see terrible Terrelle Pryor writing shout-outs to Mike Vick on his face. This stuff is stupid and so is the idea of guys writing things on their gloves. That will be banned soon if I had to guess.

Get back to playing football, not worrying about what is written on your face.

Dez Bryant News

The Jacksonville Jaguars, who need tons of help at the wide receiver position, have eliminated Okla. St. WR Dez Bryant from their draft board due to character concerns.

Imagine that; a player going into the NFL with character concerns. Ok, well that is for a different day, but I don't care what the Jags say, they are stupid if they don't take Bryant. He is the real deal and he proved that in college. But if he wouldn't have lied about having dinner with "Neon" Deion Sanders, he would have been fine and finished the season. It's not like this guy beat a women, molested a woman, was dealing or smoking drugs (dude). They don't provide what the character concerns are, but if it's lying, I'm guilty and so are you.

Here are the receivers the Jags have taken in the first round over the past few years: R. Jay Soward (29th overall), Reggie Williams (ninth) and Matt Jones (21st overall and now a Bengal). Over a combined ten year span, these guys averaged 37 catches for 462.9 yards and 3.4 td's. What that means is over 10 years, this is what these three average per season combined. AWFUL!!! Now tell me, were any of these three as talented as Dez Bryant? Don't lie!!!!

Texas Stadium Implosion

The man at the center of USC controversy

This is a great piece about the athletic director at USC and his involvement in all the BS that has gone down at the university with their athletic programs.

I know this type of crap goes down at the majority of universities, but this piece is great because it gives insight into what an athletic director does and how much pull this guy can have if he wants.

I couldn't rip the video, so the link is to the four-letters site where the video is!

2010 NFL players on the rise

Here is a look into some young players looking to be on the rise for the 2010 season.

I agree with most and some are obvious, but as for the two qb's on the list; Not so fast my friend. Josh Freeman lost his top wide out and still has no offensive line. The one good thing is that he has a trio of running backs that can make his job easier. As for Stafford, he does play for the Lions right? And I'm pretty sure they have no line (offensive or defensive), but there is Calvin and Kevin Jones (coming off knee surgery). They will get better, but not so much this season. Sorry fellas!

Oh yeah, no Bengals on this list either. What about Maualuga?

Hey, now that college basketball is over...

Why don't we take a look at the "way too early" top 25 for college football. With Bama and OSU at the top, it looks like it will be another hate filled season for me. Saban is a tool and the Luckeyes are just flat out gayer than a three dollar bill.

The team to watch out for is Boise State. The Broncos are projected to begin the season at No. 3 in the polls, while returning 21 of 22 starters. That is unreal. Not only do they have the coolest coach in town, but they play on a blue field. That's enough right there to root for them to win the national championship!

I see the Bearcats at 22 on the list. That is okay, we all know we weren't ranked in the preseason last year and if I remember correctly, the season went pretty well. Being ranked 22 is basically the same thing, meaning that we are under the radar, so I will take that as it has seemed to work in the past

Did I mention that I wish I went to USC?

Proof the NFL Combine is a joke

We all know there are a variety of stupid questions asked to young men entering the NFL draft at the NFL Combine, but this one may top them all.
It's not as over-the-top as some of the stupid other questions, but I would just love to know how the question is supposed to be answered. Or maybe the Redskins are just looking to find dudes to fight? I don't know. Just read it!

Here is how it went down as said by Arthur Moats from James Madison University:
"I was with the Redskins, and the guy asked me, if I'm coming into camp, I'm 30 minutes early, I'm sitting in the front row of the meeting room. Brian Orakpo walks in and says, "That's my chair." Am I going to get up and give him my spot, or am I going to sit there and fight him for a chair?" Moats said.

Moats' answer: "You know, I was just like, I'll slide over, because I mean, he's the million-dollar man; it's not that important. So he was like, 'Oh, so you're scared of him?' And I was like, no. And he was like, 'So why don't you go fight him?' There was kind of like no right answer to the question and everything, the way he was asking it."

Need I say more?

Reds vs. Cards wrap-up

The Reds are off to a 1-2 start to begin the 2010 season. Some would say that is awful and here we go again, but I say it is better than it looks.
The starting pitching was good, especially Arroyo, and the hitting was average. Aaron Harang wasn't as bad as most think he was, but he didn't help himself with his error on the throw to first base. That took a lot of air out of his and the teams sails as that put them down three. I put that loss on the bullpen. Yeah you can say that who knows what it would have been like if the Cards hadn't hit the grand slam, but regardless of that, your bullpen cannot blow up and give up six runs. That flat out takes your team out of the game.

As for game two, it was the bullpen again. Logan Ondrusek was awful, but I can give him a little slack for it being his major league debut. Cueto was his usual self. He was over-throwing, wild, throwing too many balls and not enough strikes. Still, with all that considered,he only gave up two earned runs. He had three walks and three strikeouts. The offense was the problem as Orlando Cabrera had all three rbi's for the Reds, and only three other Reds had hits. Just need more offense than that.

Game three was special. It was the kind of early season win that the Reds needed. It gave Arroyo a shot in the arm with some confidence as he went eight innings, only gave up four hits and three walks, while striking out six. His only run given up was on a Matt Holliday home run. It's just a shame that Bronson didn't get the win. It also gives a boost to Jonny Gomes. It may also give Duster the idea to play him more. Gomes' walk-off shot in the ninth was hopefully a boost that this offense needed. They managed to score just five runs in the final 18 innings against the Cards. That number will need to come up if the Reds expect to do anything at all this season.

North Dakota has nothing better do to!

It has taken nearly four years, but finally the North Dakota Fighting Sioux are no longer. The nickname has officially been retired.

Is it just me, or is it amazing that it has taken four years to come to this decision? It says in the article above that they were "tired of the controversy." Yeah, no sh*t people. It took you four years to retire a college nickname because eight people think it offends a group of Indians. There was a group of Sioux Indians that actually wanted to keep the nickname. Now why wouldn't you listen to those people? Instead, a group of whites and blacks makes the decision to retire a nickname that doesn't apply to them in any way, shape or form.

Just another stupid waste of political time and money over an issue that maybe seven people have a strong interest in. Unreal!!

Possible John Wall replacement for UK

This kid may be the next John Wall. Brandon Knight averaged 32.5 pts per game last season in high school. Plus, he has some problems, which is why he is still available and has not signed with anyone yet. Sounds about right up ol' Calipari's alley.

2010 Recruiting top 100

Here is a list of the Top 100 recruits for next season. I could find Xavier, UK, Marquette, Pitt and many other schools that have signed some of these guys, but the one team I couldn't find was my Cincinnati Bearcats. SWEET!!!!

Nothing would make me happier...

If any team will over-draft or over-pay somebody, it is the Oakland Raiders. If reports are true, the Raiders are interested in Timmy Tebow. In my mind they make a perfect match. Tebow thinks he is god and can actually make it in the NFL, and the Raiders think they have a chance of just turning it around when Mr. Davis is still in charge. Both have so much false hope for each other it would be perfect.

Tebow is a great human/person. He needs to understand that he is closer to being the next Danny Wuerffel than the next Kurt Warner. But a team like the Raiders can let the false hope of a great NFL career live longer than any other team in the league. Maybe they will let it ride even longer than the Cardinals are letting Matt Leinart ride that bus. Well that is for a different day.

Please, Please take Tebow in the first round Oakland!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian Kelly on Matt James

As much as I can't stand BK, good shot to him for doing what he is doing and saying to honor the fallen Cincinnatian and St. X student-athlete, Matt James.

The Masters in 3D?

I didn't know how much better watching the Masters could get, but now that it is being offered up in 3D, I could be wrong. It is by far the best event to watch in HD, but now it's about to be the best event to watch in 3D.

All I know is that the Masters Challenge just got more interesting!!

Here is a link to The Masters website. It's crazy!!!

The next Dontonio Wingfield?

It's official, Lance Stephenson has declared for the NBA Draft. While he has not hired an agent, it is reported he will do so in the coming days.

In my opinion, this is a big mistake for Lance and a huge kick in the shin for the Bearcats squad. Stephenson not only under performed this season, he just started showing promise in the final few games of the season. With one more season, he could only benefit himself, and if it just so happened that he got hurt, he would have two more seasons in front of him to rebuild his stock. There is no way he will get drafted in the first-round, which means there is no guaranteed contract. Now, what happens if he gets hurt in training camp this season? He is screwed, he will be playing in the NBADL for years making money that is comparable to a minor league baseball player. This is the only way Lance Stephenson could hurt himself and his future. One more year of college would have made his talent visible and without question bumped him to a first-round draft pick. Shame on you Lance for being so stupid!!!

Next season just got more difficult for Mick Cronin. Now he is without his two best players from this season in Deonta Vaughn and Stephenson, but does add Sean Kilpatrick and has a more mature Cashmere Wright. Mick is in trouble, but he may get bailed out by the NCAA expanding the tournament to 96 teams. If that happens, Bearcat nation is going to be stuck with Cronin for at least a few more years.

I'm back!!!!!

Yeah, the blog is back up. Instead of posting 900 things in one day as it used to be, I will be updating the blog daily to every other day with the best news in the world. Stay tuned, and thanks for reading (B and Dylan) you are the ones that make me keep doing this.
